Mind Media B.V. specializes in physiological monitoring & feedback products and solutions for researchers, clinicians and health professionals since 1992. And now after many years of progress, we can proudly say that we are the #1 European company for the field of multi-channel, multi-modal Biofeedback and Neurofeedback systems!

Our NeXus systems process, feedback, visualize, record and analyze many physiological signals which we can can acquire or monitor from the body and the brain. They are used in the field of psychophysiology or neurophysiology where the interaction between mind and body is studied. For this type of research we have developed a whole set of new tools and sensors (hardware and intelligent software) enabling a more precise and efficient way to study physiological signals. Our latest NeXus instruments are all based on 24 bit precision and use special carbon shielded electrodes with active noise cancelation for better signals.

History
Mind Media was founded in 1992. In that year we introduced the first affordable dual channel EEG Trainer for the PC, called the BrainTracer. It enabled real-time digital frequency analysis and feedback of the human EEG, even in semi-3D. This product was built using the experience acquired when we developed one of the first 21 channel brain-mapping systems in 1987 (a $100,000 product) in the Netherlands.  The goal was to make this kind of technology more accessable (and affordable) so it could be used on a wider scale. Directly after the success of the BrainTracer, in 1994 Mind Media designed the first Microsoft Windows(tm) based software that could process and display up to 32 channels in 'real-time'. This software, NeuroTrace 1000 (later called BioGraph® 1.X and 2.X) made by Mind Media has sold thousands of units and became the standard in the market.  Many other products followed, such as one of the first wireless biofeedback products in 1997, a miniature EMG system (2 channels) smaller than a matchbox, products for incontinence, EMG and nerve stimulators and so on. Mind Media has participated in several large EU funded projects, such as for handsfree phsysiology based operation of computers and miniature wearable sensors for ECG and HRV (heart rate variability) monitoring. Ever since its foundation in 1992 Mind Media kept building know-how and experience with these fields.  Now hundreds of universities, clinics, and institutes are using our products. Our customers are part of our network and with their input and feedback we keep improving our products.  One of the most remarable outcomes of our 16+ year work is the wireless NeXus-10 Technology and BioTrace+ software which we launched in 2004. In 2006 we introduced the new NeXus-4, NeXus-16 and NeXus-32 systems thereby further expanding our line of NeXus physiological platforms.

Clinical Applications
Besides physiological research and neuroscience, the clinical (and therapeutical) applications of our products has always been our #1 priority. We focus on the area where the 'medical field' and psychology meet. Many 'modern' health problems which are arising from stress and  are related to modern lifestyle, can not always satisfactorily be treated by medication.  These exist in the area of cardiovascular problems (high bloodpressure, palpitations and arrhytmia) but also in muscular problems (RSI, chronic tension headache, TMJ, Bruxism). Other examples are migraine, burn out, chronic overbreathing  or hyperventilation and attention problems (ADHD).

For these applicatons we have developed special protocols which can be used by any therapist and clinician able to operate a standard computer.

Vision
We believe that many of the health problems mentioned above can be treated (complementary) by other means than drugs and medication. Health is not only a matter of chemical substances interacting or 'mechanical' biological processes. Behaviour or psychosomatic factors play an important role in many 'modern' health problems.

When behaviour, stress of lifestyle is at the heart of a health problem, it is by the means of changing and optimizing these, that such health problems can be dealt with. Physiological feedback of the activity if the autonomic and central nervous system is a powerful training technique in assisting people to restore the balance in their body and mind. Many scientific studies are confirming this.

It is our vision that this kind of technology will 'make a change' and can and will be used by millions of people in the near and more distant future, for better health.  It is our intention to help build and create that future, right now!
